Great Sturdy Backpack, June 26, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Orb Backpack (Sports) I've used this backpack both for school and for hiking and it is very well made. For school it fits my laptop and a book and notebook with some room to spare. When I go hiking I bring it for our day hikes and put snack/water/other day hike necessities like sun screen etc. and it the straps make it fit snugly on my back so that I can hike and climb without it swaying too much. Overall an excellent backpack.

Perfect day pack, March 3, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Orb Backpack (Sports) I bought the Osprey Orb three months ago. I was looking for a smaller pack to take on day excursions. The Orb fits the bill perfectly. It's a nice size for carrying an iPad or smaller laptop. There's plenty of remaining room to pack a few other essentials, but not much else. I carried my computer, a jacket, and a water bottle. That's pretty much all I needed and all the Orb will hold.
It's great if you need a pack that isn't bulky and doesn't flop around. I have a couple of larger "day packs" that have much more room inside, but I don't want to wear them all day long on excursions. The Orb is comfortable and just the right size for what I needed.

Attractive, functional, durable, and comfortable daypack, June 18, 2012 By This review is from: Osprey Orb Backpack (Sports) I use a daypack for several purposes: (1) as the "personal item" most airlines allow besides a carry-on suitcase, (2) as a gym bag, and (3) for trips to amusement parks, hikes, or other vacation excursions. I consider this daypack the perfect size for these functions. I can carry a small pillow, a thermos, my Kindle, a snack, a sweatshirt, and a rain poncho inside it. Besides the main compartment, it has a small pocket that holds pens, lip balm and the like.
There is a nice selection of colors, and the straps are decently comfortable. I contacted the company that makes this product for the dimensions before buying, and the ones they gave me seem accurate: 18 in (46 cm) length/height x 11.5 in (29 cm) width x 8.5 in (22 cm) depth, with total dimensions of 38 inches.
By the way, here are examples of what airlines define as "personal items," and in my experience a daypack like this would have no problem meeting the standard for a personal item--you just can't have... Read more
