Made a steep weekend an AWESOME weekend..., July 12, 2011 By This review is from: Osprey Aura 50 Pack (Sports) This pack was amazing for my 5'2" 135lb frame. (also my 37 year old frame LoL) I tried on several at the store loaded with weight, and what this one was lacking in padding it made up for in comfort. I thought it would be the one I liked least because of the lack of padding but it ended up feeling the best.
We hiked the Chadwell Gap trail in Cumberland Gap National Park, and the next day did a 9 mile round trip hike through different areas of the park. Chadwell Gap has over 2000 foot elevation gain in 2 miles, going up and coming down my pack with 35ish lbs (I know too heavy, but we are a family of 6 hiking)in it felt like a 10 lb pack. I was amazed.
It had been 6 years since we had been back country and I was passing down my old internal frame pack (a bit big for me) to my taller than me 11 year old son... I was worried about spending big dollars for a pack and being uncomfortable, however this pack proved me wrong, it is not only comfortable but very nicely... Read more

very lightweight and practical, October 24, 2011 By This review is from: Osprey Aura 50 Pack (Sports) This pack doesn't have as much padding as traditional backpacks but once you get used to that, it's very comfortable. I love the breathable mesh back on this thing--a couple of my backpacking buddies have foam backs on their packs that they sweat through and get smelly really, really fast. This pack never absorbed body odor even after a few weeks on the trail. I love how it distributes the weight of the load on your back. I like the stretchy mesh pocket on the outside of the pack and I like the mesh see-through zipped pocket under the lid, which is useful for valuables like credit cards, IDs and money. There is a small hole at the bottom of some of the pockets to allow dirt and debris to shake right out. I like that the side compression straps can be used either under or over the contents of the side pockets. I like the tan color which allows you to hike in either the woods or the desert without causing "visual pollution" to your fellow hikers; it also allows you to blend in... Read more
