Good with some rifts, June 14, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Meridian 28 Inch/75L Pack (Sports) In general, the pack is a nice idea with a lot of bumps. It ends up being kind of neither here nor there - not great luggage, not a great backpack. But if you need something that functions as both luggage and a backpack it will do pretty well. I thought the quality could be better, especially given the cost compared to other brands. The company seems to think a lot of itself, but I didn't see that come through in the product.
The unit I received had a defect in the extendable luggage handle. The release button did not function, meaning I could not extend the handle for transport. Given that much of my travel involved airports and crowded cities, this was a major problem. Fortunately when unzipping the back to reach the straps, the luggage handle is exposed. I was able to reach inside, and push the locking pins in to release the handle. Although an inconvenience, at least the pack was now functional.
I emailed the company to make them aware of the defect. The... Read more

Great Travel Backpack, April 9, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Meridian 28 Inch/75L Pack (Sports) We have three of these Luggage/Backpacks and have used them just recently on a trip to Costa Rica. They are very easy to wheel around. With the handle opening at the bottom of the frame, the pack is easy to lift. We went for an eight day trip and had PLENTY of room to take lots of stuff! We used the detachable daypacks as carry-on and had plenty of room for all the essentials just in case the bags didn't make it to the destination. If we had needed it the bag would have converted to a full framed backpack easily. I have not used it as a Backpack yet so I cannot comment on that, but I have used other Osprey Backpacks and they are very comfortable. The construction and durability of these packs is superb. We love ours!

Every ship needs a good dinghy, February 10, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Meridian 28 Inch/75L Pack (Sports) The Osprey makes you passionate about luggage. I want everyone to own one, so they can know how great it is. Just received my alpine blue from Amazon to Australia in four days(Wow). Now I just need somewhere to go.
I've owned a previous model of this pack, and by the looks of it the day pack is upgraded to be more spacious. This pack is sophisticated but unpretentious and best of all very practical. Will fit right into a fancy hotel or a budget abode. I have rarely needed to use it as a back pack, but having the option while traveling in strange or insecure places has put my mind at ease. I'm not sure how long I could use it as a back pack, never having bothered to try, but I can say it looks like it would be quite large for the average female body frame. I travel with a bit of work gear, so despite my wish err on the side of petite, I've opted for the larger size nonetheless. The smaller option might suit others better.
