Sized for small torsos, good distribution, August 26, 2010 By This review is from: Gregory Women's Deva 70 Backpack (Sports) I went to a local store INTENDING to get a Kelty (cheaper) but most manufacturers have gone to the adjustable torso. Turns out, at least in Gregory, my torso measures between 14 and 15 inches. That means that in an adjustable model a lot of the weight would be above my shoulders/head which makes me unstable and top heavy.
Gregory has a FANTASTIC reputation. I shelled out $60 (on discount, it would have been $140 at MSRP) extra (compared to the Kelty I was looking at) to buy the XS version of this bag and I LOVE it. I've only done 4 miles at 5000ft (my norm) and 20lbs with this, but I didn't feel the weight in my hips, back or shoulders. At the end of the trail I was ready to be 20lbs lighter again, but my hips, shoulders and back felt absolutely normal.
I love the sleeping bag zone, the mid-section access and the little pockets on the hip belt.

This is the most comfortable pack I have ever owned. It feels natural to have it on my back and moves the same way my body does. It is very roomy on the inside allowing me to fit everything I need and nice side pockets to fit smaller items. Make sure to get the one that fits you. I first got a small and it wasn't comfortable then I went to a extra small and the fit was just right.
