This is a roomy backpack.
I initially got it for my 4 1/2 year old son, taking his belongings along (toys, extra clothes, games, etc..) on outings.
But, we have taken it hiking and has performed well. As stated, a lot of room for snacks, extra clothes and the straps worked perfectly for the wet and/or dirty shoes & clothes.
My only con is no side pouch to hold a water bottle. But, I knew that from the get go, so that is a small negative, if at that.
